- Nose
- Whiffs of matchstick heads, smoked bacon, liquorice, pipe smoke, tarry elements, spearmint freshness, menthol, kippery smoke, and gravel. It has pleasant aromas, like an old road worker's pocket with a smoking pipe, bacon, matchsticks, and mint. It's exceptionally smooth with smoked fruits and flowers, including Gravenstein apples, ripe Williams pears, hints of smoked ham, abalones, sea spray, mashed potatoes, and menthol.
- Palate
- Firm, sharp, and savoury with sherry sweetness (blackberry) in the background. Moist tobacco, crushed black peppercorns, salted lemons, heavy liquorice, seawater, and leafy notes. Later, bitter herbs and a hint of leather. It's savoury and aromatic, with a salty and citrus smoky character, and a surprising bit of liquorice sweetness. The peat is peppery and salty, with smoked lemons, green pepper, ginseng, gentian, Szechuan pepper, chalk, and a basaltic edge.
- Finish
- Very long, with salty liquorice, a light rubbery touch, and more black pepper. It's smooth and clingy, with lovely rubbery and cracked pepper notes.
