Angel's Envy Cask Strength, Port Cask, Batch No. C6, 2017, 62.2%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The fruitcake and fresh strawberries give the nose a vivid, generous feel, while cracked peppercorns and clove bring some lift. On the palate, caramel coffee and dried fig sit alongside aged tobacco and toasted sourdough, so there is plenty beyond the fruit. The rich, buttery finish with baking spice and port warmth sounds like a rounded, flavour-forward take on bourbon. At 62.2%, it is a high-strength release, which may make it less approachable for some.
