Ardbeg Kildalton Project, Bourbon & Refill Sherry Cask, 2014, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The appeal here is the balance between assertive peat smoke and brighter citrus, with vanilla and sweet malt giving the nose a softer edge. Lemon, toffee, and pepper keep the palate varied without losing its smoky character. The long, warming finish carries that contrast through, bringing smoke and maritime notes alongside sweet spice. A layered Islay character, with enough restraint in the sweeter details to keep the smoke at the centre.
