Arran Single Cask 25 Year Old, Sherry Cask, Cask #1996/905, 2021, 50.2%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The strongest thread is the aromatic sherry character, with blackberries, strawberry jam and raisins giving it plenty of dark-fruit weight. Orange oils, mint and baking spice keep that sweetness from seeming one-note. The palate is described as lighter and thinner than expected, a useful reservation alongside the rich malt, chocolate and coffee. That contrast makes the character more interesting than an uncomplicated fruit-and-oak profile, though the nose appears more immediately convincing than the palate.
