Bimber Single Cask 3 Year Old, Re-Charred American Oak Cask, Cask #144, 2020, 57.9%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The spice and sweetness give this a pleasing push and pull: piquant spices and oak char bring a firm edge, while burnt toffee and lingering caramel sweetness round it out. The finish stays warming and spicy, so this seems more oak-led than delicate. I like that the sweet notes are present without smoothing away the sharper character. A compact, direct style that should suit someone who wants spice alongside caramel rather than sweetness on its own.
