Bowmore Royal Mile Whiskies Exclusive 20 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, Cask #98, 2005, Royal Mile Whiskies, 52.6%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

89 / 100

The character rests on a clear contrast: crisp bonfire smoke and sea-salt notes meet caramel apples and brighter fruit. That gives the fruit a lively counterpoint rather than letting the smoky, earthy side dominate the whole picture. The palate sounds especially layered, moving from mineral, coastal flavours toward sweeter pineapple and candy notes. The finish brings fruit back, though the mild drying quality keeps it from sounding entirely soft or sweet.
