Bruichladdich Black Art 29 Year Old, Edition 10.1, 2022, 45.1%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

90 / 100

There is plenty of sweetness here, from apricot jam and orange barley sugars to smooth fudge, but it is not all sugar and fruit. Toasted oak, ginger and cinnamon add warmth, while iodine and orange bitterness bring a sharper edge. That contrast makes the generous fruit and chocolate notes more interesting to me than a simply sweet profile. The range of details is broad, though the sweet side remains prominent throughout.
