Bruichladdich Fynest Series 20 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, Cask #646, 2004, Loch Fyne Whiskies, 54.3%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The appeal here is the clear shift from sweet, creamy notes on the nose to a more grain-and-spice-led palate: manuka honey and vanilla give way to toasted oats and cinnamon. The faint sea-breeze note keeps that contrast connected to its coastal Islay character without taking over. That balance feels inviting and composed, with enough change between stages to hold my interest.
