Bunnahabhain Barrel Selection 38 Year Old, Sherry Butt Cask, Cask #1, 1973, Wilson & Morgan, 41.2%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The mango, pineapple and grapefruit give this a bright, lively edge, especially against the sweet-sour contrast. Anise and pepper add a drier turn, and the tannic, slightly astringent finish keeps it from feeling like easy fruit alone. That balance sounds more interesting than simple richness.
