Bunnahabhain Port Wood Finish Natural Cask Strength 12 Year Old, Port Wood Cask, 2009, 46.3%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The notes put dried fruit and vanilla up front, then move into darker flavours of chocolate, raisins and figs with a touch of oak. That contrast gives the character some weight without losing the fruit. The unpeated label is useful context, but the tasting notes don’t specify smoke, so I wouldn’t assign a particular smoke level from them. The lingering fruit and spice sounds like a fitting close to this richer style.
