Dalmore 16 Year Old, American White Oak & Sherry Cask, 44%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

Orange and nectarine give the nose an inviting fruit focus, while green apple and blood orange keep that thread going on the palate. Toffee, coffee and marzipan bring a richer counterpoint, and the finish returns to fruit with cherries alongside liquorice and vanilla. That movement from bright citrus and orchard fruit toward deeper, roasted notes gives this single malt a pleasing sense of contrast. The fruit character is especially appealing, though the coffee and liquorice make it more than a purely fresh, fruit-led style.
