Glen Elgin 30 Year Old, Sherry Cask, Cask #4319, W&M294, 1988, Wilson & Morgan, 51.1%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The bright grapefruit and tropical fruit give this Glen Elgin a clear, lively opening, while chamomile and beeswax add a gentler floral side. On the palate, citrus and dried fruit sit alongside sherry, oak, chocolate, and coffee, so the freshness has plenty of richer detail to balance it. The long finish turns toward spicy oak, pepper, and tannic dryness; that firmer ending keeps the sweetness from feeling one-note.
