There’s a pleasing contrast here between the baked, buttery feel of shortbread and custard on the nose and the brighter apple turnover on the palate. The subtle sherry stays in the background rather than taking over, while sweet cashew nuts, spice and gunpowder give the very long finish a more savoury edge. That balance makes this an appealing, characterful Speyside malt.
