Glen Ord 12 Year Old Bottled 1990s, Ex-Bourbon American Oak & Refill Sherry Oak Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

84 / 100

The 40% ABV is useful context, while the appeal here is the contrast between a very malty, earthy nose and a dry, crisp palate with light honey and orange. The water-dependent coconut pulp, orange and nougat are an interesting extra detail, not a reason to assume a richer overall profile. I like the direct, oak-and-malt direction; the short finish keeps this more appetising than lingering.
