GlenAllachie Masters of Wood 17 Year Old, Mizunara & Oloroso Sherry Cask, 2024, 50%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The honey and dried orange give this a welcoming start, while cocoa and toasted tobacco bring a darker edge. The palate sounds richer and more involved, with baking spices alongside fig syrup and cinnamon apples. That mix has appeal, though the layers of sweetness and spice may make it less of an easygoing choice than a softer, simpler malt. The long, balsamic finish with a light salty note adds an interesting counterpoint.
