There’s a nice turn from pears, pineapple and honey on the nose to vinous red fruits and warming spice on the palate. The oak and barley give that sweetness a firmer edge, and the medium finish keeps malt and oak in view. That balance suits my preference for malt and oak without making the fruit feel like a side note. The Sauternes wood-finish name also sits naturally alongside the wine-like fruit character.
