Glenrothes 25 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, Batch No. 3, 1991, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, 49.7%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

89 / 100

This points to a rounded, fairly rich style rather than a delicate one. Toffee, mocha and gingerbread on the nose set up sweetness, while the palate’s peaches, honey and chocolate ice cream keep it generous. Mellow old oak gives the fruit and cream a firmer edge, and the finish brings citrus, ginger and subtle oak spice. There is plenty of variety here; the balance of sweet notes and restrained oak is the part that appeals most.
