Inchmurrin 2003 Single Cask 14 Year Old, Sauternes Hogshead Finish Cask, Cask #16/303-8, 2017, 53.3%

88 / 100

This has an easy-to-follow balance that appeals to me: orchard fruit and warm spice on the nose, then creamy vanilla and toffee alongside fresh peach on the palate. The cinnamon and nutmeg carry through without crowding the sweeter notes, while the medium-length finish brings wood spice, vanilla and caramel. The Sauternes hogshead finish is part of the documented character here, and the overall combination sounds warmly rounded rather than challenging. A convincing, approachable Highland single malt.
