The bright fruit notes give this a useful lift against the caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak, which suits my preference for a whisky with some freshness rather than sweetness alone. Spice carries through to a warm, lingering finish with residual sweetness, so the oak-led character remains firmly in view. The notes are fairly clear about that contrast, though they do not identify the fruit more specifically. A solid, well-defined character, even if it leans more toward oak and caramel than a particularly fresh style.
