Jameson Single Pot Still Five Oak Cask Release, Bourbon Cask & Sherry Cask & Virgin Oak Cask, 2022, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The appeal here is the contrast between honeycomb and salted caramel on one side, and cinnamon-led oak spice on the other. The palate adds dark chocolate and ginger, with smoked-wood tones and delicate tannins keeping the sweetness from reading as one-note. A long finish of spiced oak and roasted nuts sounds like a satisfying close. This feels warmly layered, while still anchored in wood and spice.
