Johnnie Walker Blue Label The Cask Edition, Oak Cask, 2012, 55.8%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The fruit has the most appeal here: pears and apples meet candied orange and a broader mix of tropical fruits. Oak and chili pepper give the palate a firmer, spicier edge, while the thin veil of peat smoke stays present without taking over. The finish is described as long and delicate, with subtle smoke and spices, though the grapefruit bitterness keeps it from being entirely soft. It sounds layered, but not simply fruit-sweet.
