83 / 100

The crisp apple and citrus zest on the nose make a bright start. Honeyed malt gives way to sweet malt on the palate, where cracked black pepper and warm baking spices add some contrast. The smoke is a delicate wisp on the nose and gentle and earthy on the palate. I like that it has a part to play without crowding the sweeter notes. The finish brings warmth, light peat embers and toasted oak. Oak is the only cask detail given, so I would leave its influence at that finish note rather than assume a particular cask treatment. That toasted oak suits my taste. Overall, this looks like a lively blend, with spice and light smoke balancing its sweetness.
