The oak char and warming wood spices sound like a clear counterpoint to the fresh citrus, blossom and tropical fruit. That contrast is appealing, though I’d want the oak to sit in support rather than take over; the notes also give plenty of space to mint, fruit and sweet, nutty flavours. The rye-cask finish is a useful part of the picture, with fragrant cinnamon and pepper adding lift alongside the softer caramel notes. It reads as a layered, balanced character, with enough oak presence to interest me without making oak the whole story.
