K&L 'Dawning Era' Small Batch No. 16 Year Old, Batch No. KY-02-25, K&L Wine Merchants, 60%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

89 / 100

There’s a cheerful richness to this bourbon’s combination of cherry jam and dark chocolate, with sweet stewed peaches adding a fruitier edge on the nose. The palate carries that red-fruit and chocolate character into vanilla and roasted pear-covered baking spices, which gives the heavier notes some lift. The unpeated designation is noted, but the documented flavours are what make this an appealingly rounded profile to me.
