Kentucky Nectar Single Barrel 'Old Commonwealth', Honey Cask, Cask #F4, 2026, 52.5%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The contrast between light black pepper and baking spices on the nose and the honeyed, brown-sugar sweetness on the palate gives this bourbon a clear point of interest. I like that the spice carries through to the finish as allspice and oak tannins, rather than letting the sweetness tell the whole story. Honey wheat bread, butterscotch, vanilla and sweet tea keep the closing notes rounded. There is plenty going on here, though the tasting notes point to a distinctly sweet direction overall.
