Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year Old, Charred Oak Cask, 2022, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

This has the kind of peaty, smoky character I’m drawn to, with salt in the finish giving it a coastal edge. The darker notes of chocolate, cocoa and treacle sound like a thoughtful counterweight to the smoke, while red berries and apples bring a sweeter thread through the nose and palate. The charred oak is part of the appeal here, adding a clear woody presence without pushing the whole picture away from those richer, sweeter notes. A compelling fit for someone who likes Islay peat with more than just smoke to explore.
