The most compelling contrast is the ashy peat smoke against the sweetness of dried fruit, with briny coastal notes and baking spices adding another layer. That gives this 22-year-old Islay malt plenty of character without making the smoke its only point of interest. The long, warming finish sounds especially appealing, though the pronounced peat and salty notes make this a more assertive style than a gentle, fruit-led malt.
