The oak seems more like a small accent than the main event: there’s only a little charred oak on the nose, while orchard and stone fruit, pepper and maritime notes take the lead. That makes me wonder how much the sherry cask shapes the character here; the notes point more strongly to fruit, spice and a touch of salinity than to an obvious oak imprint. Still, the long, warming finish and its gentle maritime dryness make for an appealingly layered picture.
