Macallan Fine Oak 18 Year Old, Sherry & Bourbon Cask, 2006, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The orange citrus and vanilla running through the nose and palate give this a clear, joined-up character, while nutmeg and cinnamon add a gentle spiced edge. The lingering chocolate orange and hint of wood smoke offer a little contrast without making the finish sound heavy. At the supplied SGD 1,119.77 sale reference, the flavour case matters; that figure alone does not make it an obvious value. The appeal is in the focused citrus-and-spice combination, rather than sheer intensity.
