Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

Fresh fruit salad and cloves on the nose lead into dark fruit, Christmas cake and rich almonds on the palate. The finish brings stewed apples and sweet prunes, keeping the fruit theme present through the closing notes. That progression feels coherent, with the cloves offering a welcome spice contrast to the sweeter fruit and cake notes. I’m drawn to that balance: there’s plenty of fruit character, but it isn’t described as sweetness alone.
