Miltonduff Single Cask Strength 22 Year Old, Sherry Cask, Cask #15221, 1994, Gordon & Macphail, 60.4%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The stewed fruit gives this a rounded, generous character, while chocolate and Brazil nuts keep it from reading as fruit alone. The shift toward dried fruit in the persistent finish is especially appealing: it carries the fruit theme forward while bringing in a darker, nuttier edge. There is a lot of richness in the supplied notes, so this seems better suited to someone who enjoys a full, dessert-like direction than a crisp, delicate one.
