Nikka Yoichi Single Malt 10 Year Old, Bourbon & New Oak & Sherry Cask, 2023, 45%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

The peppery first palate gives this whisky a clear edge, while creamy pastry and caramel sweetness keep it from feeling one-note. Ripe apple and vanilla bring a softer counterpoint, with dark chocolate adding depth. I like that the spice is described as lively rather than overwhelming; the gentle peat and smoke sit in the background instead of taking over. A balanced, appealing direction.
