Old Pulteney 2004 Single Cask 16 Year Old, Oloroso Sherry Cask, 2020, 59.2%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

88 / 100

The finish gives this one a distinctive landing: medium in length, with spicy tannins, tingling salt and pepper, then dry hay and stewed raisins. That savory edge makes an appealing counterpoint to the palate’s thick marmalade, dried fig and salted toffee. There’s plenty of character across the notes, and the finish stays interesting without needing to be described as especially long. A warmly compelling sherry-cask style.
