There’s a pleasing push and pull here: sweetness, orchard fruit and vanilla meet briny peat smoke and medicinal notes, so it doesn’t settle into a simple sweet-or-smoky character. The 41% ABV is a useful point of context, stated plainly without needing to make claims about how strong it feels. I also like that the finish brings the malt, fruit and honey together with a lingering maritime smoky edge. A characterful Welsh single malt, with enough contrast to keep it interesting.
