Port Ellen That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch No. 5, That Boutique-y Whisky Company, 47.1%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

91 / 100

Port Ellen's coastal, oily seaweed and tarry-rope character gives this a clear Islay anchor, while coconut nougat and tropical fruit soften the chamois-leather palate. The sooty smoke and beach-barbecue finish sound especially assertive, though that long, smoky close may dominate the gentler fruit. At the SGD 616.55 selling-price reference, the appeal is very much this distinctive, layered character; the figure alone doesn't make it an obvious value proposition.
