85 / 100

The dark fruits on the nose and palate give this bourbon a welcome counterpoint to its sweeter caramel, honey and toffee notes. Citrus appears on the palate too, adding a brighter fruit detail alongside baking spices and oak. That balance appeals to my preference for fruit character, though the fruit is one part of a broader sweet-and-spiced mix rather than the main focus throughout. The medium-length finish turns toward oak, vanilla, pepper and cinnamon, with sweetness lingering. I find the relationship between dark fruit and citrus more interesting than the finish, which sounds pleasant but less fruit-focused. Overall, there is enough fruit here to hold my interest without overstating its role.
