Secret Islay 10 Ans 10 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, 2013, Wu Dram Clan, 53.6%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

This reads as a peat-led Islay, with pear and granny apple keeping smoke from being the only point of interest. The palate is described as balanced and textured, while medicinal spice and sea spray bring a sharper edge. That spicy finish is the part most in line with my preferences. The SGD 186.53 selling-price reference gives some context, but doesn’t establish value by itself. Overall, a focused, smoke-forward malt with welcome fruit.
