There’s a lot going on here. Chalk, leather and medicinal seaside notes make the nose feel austere, while butterscotch and orange cake offer a softer edge. On the palate, dry white-wine notes and vegetal peat meet candied citrus and warm spice; that contrast is the main appeal. The earthy, compost-like side and peppery finish sound rougher than I’d prefer, though. Overall, this comes across as an assertive, dry-leaning character rather than an easy, sweet dram.
