Starlight Carl T. Huber's Single Barrel Bourbon Finished in Cognac Barrels 4 Year Old, Bourbon & Cognac Cask, Cask #21-2312, 52.8%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

87 / 100

This sounds more rich and layered than light, with bourbon sweetness meeting the Cognac-barrel character. Vanilla and caramel give the nose a familiar bourbon direction, while the fruit keeps it from reading as all sweetness. The long, complex finish adds a little extra depth to the picture. I like that contrast: recognizably bourbon-led, but with room for the Cognac influence to show.
