This comes across as a lively, dessert-leaning Japanese single malt: crème brulee and fruit on the nose lead into honey, vanilla and chocolate éclair, before the finish shifts toward sweet spice, coconut and aniseed. I like that move from rounded sweetness to more aromatic spice; it gives the character a nice bit of contrast. The five-year age and first-fill bourbon cask add useful context, while the tasting notes give a clear sense of its flavour direction.
