Waitrose 12 Year Old Islay Single Malt, Bourbon Cask, 40%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

78 / 100

A reliable Islay profile for a supermarket bottling. While the 40% strength means it lacks the punch of a heavy hitter, it still delivers the medicinal and ashy notes I look for. The bourbon cask brings a nice balance to the charcoal and sea salt elements.
