Wemyss Malts Velvet Fig, Oloroso Sherry Cask, Wemyss Malts, 46%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

The fruit has plenty of company here: ripe figs and dates meet milk chocolate, then nutmeg and ginger bring a measured turn toward spice. I’m more persuaded by that contrast than by sheer richness alone; the chestnut and toasted walnuts give the palate a grounded close, while cinnamon and pipe tobacco carry into the finish. It’s a warmly sherried direction, though the evidence points firmly to fruit, nuts and spice rather than the herbal or tea notes I often look for.
