This reads as a sweet, fruit-led English single malt, with delicate peat-smoke offering a useful counterpoint. The rum-cask finish is part of its stated identity, and the notes point to lingering sweetness with a touch of spice. That balance sounds more appealing to me than sweetness on its own.
