Benromach Organic, Virgin American Oak Cask, 2009, 43%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

There’s a pleasing shift from rounded vanilla, pineapple and barley sugar sweets on the nose to a more grounded palate of malt, coffee bean and dark chocolate, with citrus peels adding contrast. The clean, refreshing finish keeps that richer middle from feeling heavy. It reads as a thoughtfully balanced Speyside malt, with enough character to hold interest without leaning on age or prestige.
