Glengoyne Ronnie's Choice 22 Year Old, Bourbon Cask, Cask #449, 2005, 53.6%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

77 / 100

The candied lemon and citrus give the nose a bright, appealing thread, with anise, toasted almonds, cinnamon and caramel adding welcome detail. The licorice and mint on the palate sound intriguing, but the reported heat is a real drawback. A finish that falls flat quickly also leaves little room for those flavours to linger. Promising aromatically, but less convincing in its follow-through.
