The ripe orange and toffee apple character is the most inviting part here, with vibrant berries adding a brighter edge. Rich dried fruits and citrus carry that fruit emphasis onto the palate, while smouldering oak, pepper and bitter almond make it feel more assertive than purely sweet. The long finish’s honey and aged wood sound appealing, though the nutty bitterness keeps the close from being all softness. A fruit-led sherry-cask style with some welcome tension.
