Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Special Release Rye, New American Oak Cask, 2020, 66.6%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

86 / 100

The rye spice and pepper have a useful counterweight in molasses and dark fruit, with oak keeping the sweetness in check. There’s plenty of sweet character here, which may crowd out the finer grain detail I tend to look for, but the spice gives it some needed definition.
