The red fruits, chocolate and orange give the heavy tar, oily smoke and brine something to push against. That sounds more compelling than simply piling on peat, though the rubber, medicinal and engine-oil notes make it a rough-edged proposition. The stated medium-to-long finish keeps the coastal smoke and salt in view. I’d rate it well for that distinctive contrast, while recognizing that this is a forceful style rather than an easygoing one.
