Port Charlotte PC11 Eòrna Na H-alba 11 Year Old, Bourbon & Oloroso Sherry Cask, 2013, 59.5%

A Maltiply member's tasting notes and whisky impression.

89 / 100

Smoke is firmly in the picture here, with sherry fruit—dates, prunes and raisins—meeting salty coastal peat. That makes for a sweet-and-smoky character rather than a one-note peat exercise. The palate carries the contrast into chocolate, walnut and ash, while the finish is described as long and sweet. The slightly burnt or metallic note is the wrinkle: an intriguing edge, though it may not suit anyone after a softer finish.
