Maltiply Tasting Profile
Nose
Rich, sweet, and smoky with notes of sherry, dates, prunes, raisins, cinnamon, liquorice, juniper, mint, citrus, lemon, honey, apple, pear, apricot, and banana. Hints of sea salt, tar, treacle, chocolate-coated licorice, and a 'dirty' or 'wet' peat profile.
Palate
Seductive sherry and viscous texture with roasted walnut, oak, crème brûlée, tapioca, dark ripe fruits, chocolate, aniseed, and a salty coastal peatiness. Smooth with caramel, peat, smoke, ashes, soot, and sugar-coated fresh fruits.
Finish
Long and sweet, with lingering richness. Notes of dark chocolate, sherry fruitiness, nuttiness, licorice, coastal peat, spicy oak, ashes, and a slightly burnt or metallic note.

The oak seems quieter beside the sherry and peat.

Smoke is firmly in the picture here, with sherry fruit—dates, prunes and raisins—meeting salty coastal peat. That makes for a sweet-and-smoky character rather than a one-note peat exercise. The palate carries the contrast into chocolate, walnut and ash, while the finish is described as long and sweet. The slightly burnt or metallic note is the wrinkle: an intriguing edge, though it may not suit anyone after a softer finish.

Having both bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks named is helpful, and the notes have a clear contrast: sherry fruit and dark chocolate alongside coastal peat and smoke. That combination sounds appealing to me, especially with the long, sweet finish; the slightly burnt or metallic note keeps it from sounding entirely polished.
